GOLF
Jacksonville Country Club is a beautiful private club with an 18-hole golf course considered to be one of the best in Illinois. The club also has a swimming pool, tennis courts, pro shop and clubhouse.
The Links Golf Course is one of the finest public golf courses in Central Illinois. With an 18-Hole Championship Course and the Nichols Park Par 33 Golf Course, The Links appeals to golfers of all ages and abilities. The Links is also the host of The Robbie McEvers Memorial Junior Golf Tournament which attracts more than 350 players each year. If you are looking for a quality round of golf at a good pace, try The Links located in Nichols Park.
Northridge Hills Golf Course is a challenging 9-hole, par 32 golf course. This executive length, rolling course features bent grass tees and fairways along with a full practice range complete with target and putting greens. Golf lessons are available by appointment. The clubhouse has a pro shop, bar, and large deck overlooking the course. The restaurant serves lunch daily and can accommodate groups up to 50 for meetings or meals, and up to 72 for golf outings.
PARKS:
Play-For-All Park is an extraordinary playground and splash pad where children with and without disabilities can learn together through play. This is a unique barrier-free play environment.
Nichols Park, the largest of the parks, covers 86 acres in southeast Jacksonville and offers an Olympic-size swimming pool. A large, well-equipped playground lies on the south side of the park. Along with The Links, an additional 9-hole golf course winds through the park. There are horseshoe courts, ball parks, gazebos and picnic facilities big enough for any family reunion.
Duncan Park is located in the 1200 block of West State Street. The Duncan Mansion, home of former Illinois Governor Joseph Duncan, stands at the north center of the park. Jacksonville Community Park is the newest park in the Jacksonville parks system. Located on 60 acres at the intersection of Main Street and Morton Avenue, this park is equipped with playground equipment, picnic areas and large, shady playgrounds. Large soccer fields occupy the southern portion of this lovely park.
Central Park Plaza, located in the center of the city’s historic downtown. A beautiful Civil War monument highlights this area of constant activity. Kiwanis Park, located in the northeast section of the city, this park is equipped with a baseball field, playground equipment and a large, paved play area.
Dewey Park South Jacksonville, located at Dewey Drive and South West Street and has four tennis courts, playground equipment, and picnic facilities.
Veterans Park, located near the Illinois School for the Deaf, 124 City Place. It has two tennis courts and picnic facilities.
Sherwood Eddy Memorial YMCA is one of the finest recreational facilities in Jacksonville. It has an indoor swimming pool, large gymnasium, handball and racquetball courts, tennis court, softball, soccer and football fields, and a private health club. The "Y" also gives classes in aerobics, swimming, gymnastics and many other areas of fitness and sponsors teen dances and a preschool program. Jacksonville Raceway is a high-banked dirt oval track. Classes: Sprints, Micro-Sprints, Street Stock, Pony Stock. Morgan County Fairgrounds, Lafayette at Westgate.
